Meeting Roberto Coin

In April Steve and I were in Venice, and stopped at Roberto Coin’s shop.  It is small but nice.  For security, you had to be buzzed in.

We were talking with the clerk, and I heard a man’s voice from behind me say,” Now there’s a nice young American couple.”  I turned around to say, “Well maybe not so young, but we are Americans.” 

The man said, “Hi, I’m Roberto Coin.”  I was star struck and just stared.  My husband immediately took a picture of the two of us.  It was so unexpected.  He then introduced us to his wife, Pillar.

We chatted for a little bit and he said he is from Venice and his jewelry is made about 45 minutes from there.

Since he isn’t in the store very often, it was a happy coincidence for us that we were able to meet him.
