The wedding ring and old engagement ring were passed down to me from my mother. It was a gift for my golden birthday. I have always loved the ring but didn't feel it was meant to be my forever ring for that ring finger. My husband and I have talked about upgrading and getting a modern ring for awhile, but never got around to it. When I won the diamond we figured now was the time to do it. We decided to keep the original wedding band I got from my mother, and put that with the new ring. I still wear the family heirloom ring on my other hand now.
